7 ki­los of co­ke in­ter­cep­ted at JFK Air­port

PARAMARIBO/NEW YORK – A Su­ri­na­me­se ci­ti­zen who tried to smug­gle co­cai­ne in­to the Uni­ted Sta­tes of Ame­ri­ca was cau­ght red­hand­ed upon his ar­ri­val in New York. The man who had ma­na­ged to smug­gle 7 ki­lo­grams of co­cai­ne from Su­ri­na­me to the US was ar­re­sted at the Jo­hn F Ken­ne­dy In­ter­na­ti­o­nal Air­port. The con­fis­ca­ted drugs re­por­ted­ly has a street va­lue of USD 255,000. Re­ports in­di­ca­te that Dhroep­chand B had de­par­ted from the Johan Adolf Pen­gel In­ter­na­ti­o­nal Air­port and was flown to the US via Tri­nidad and To­ba­go. The co­cai­ne was hi­d­den in his suit­ca­ses. The sus­pect ma­na­ged to get through cus­t­oms at JAP and Tri­nidad. But US cus­t­oms im­me­di­a­te­ly no­ti­ced that the­re was so­me­thing wrong with the man’s suit­ca­ses. The suit­ca­ses re­por­ted­ly had ex­tra thick walls and we­re ex­cep­ti­o­nal­ly hea­vy. Upon fur­ther in­spec­ti­on cus­t­oms of­fi­cers found a whi­te sub­stan­ce that la­ter tur­ned out to be co­cai­ne. The co­cai­ne was con­fis­ca­ted and Dhroep­chand B was ar­re­sted. Ro­bert Pe­rez who works at cus­t­oms in New York poin­ted out that drugs busts are ma­de at JFK eve­ry day.
