Chile to grant facilities to LATAM Airlines

-

CHILE -- Chilean Economy Minister Lucas Palacios announced on Friday that the government will make facilities available to LATAM Airlines to help the company to “quickly get out” of its current situation, after the airline filed for bankruptcy in the United States on Tuesday. “We are arranging all facilities so that, as quickly as possible, LATAM can quickly get out of the situation that is afflicting it, as well as the rest of the airlines,” Palacios said in a virtual conference with foreign correspondents. According to Palacios, in Chile, LATAM provides around 10,000 direct jobs and around 200,000 indirect job opportunities through its suppliers and related companies, “which is quite significant.” The Chile-headquartered airline LATAM, the largest one in Latin America, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States on Tuesday.
