DC Jurel wants collective effort against COVID-19 in Para District

-

The vacation resorts are closed and the take-out service and consumption in restaurants and other food houses is forbidden. Consumption in bars and in front of stores is also forbidden. All of the eased measures for vacation resorts and hotels in the Para Districts were scrapped on June 2 by Para District Commissioner

Armand Jurel. “The DC’s Office has also ceased its administrative services for two weeks. Exceptions are possible. Garbage collectors and administrators will do their work in a limited manner,” said DC Jurel according to a press release from the BIC of the Para District. DC Jurel deemed these strict measures necessary in response to the fact that Suriname has entered the Code Red phase during the COVID19 crisis. DC Jurel issued a warning against retailers who sell alcohol to people who then consume it at the retail stores. He urged them to refrain from this practice and made it clear that the authorities of the district will take action against groups that consist of more than 5 people. DC Jurel called on all of his district’s entrepreneurs and residents to take a collective stand against the spread of COVID19. The Para District is known for its many vacation resorts that draw thousands of people during the summer vacation.
