Family of 7 almost homeless

A man, woman and their five children almost became homeless when their house which is located along the Munderweg caught fire on Wednesday.

Fire Department Spokesman Olton Pinas told Times of Suriname that flames destroyed two bedrooms and a portion of the furniture. Pinas pointed out that the family was out when the fire started. The neighbors notified the fire department after they had spotted the smoke. The family reportedly does not have any fire insurance.

Firefighters removed a 28 lbs gas cylinder out of the burning house. The fire reportedly started in one of the bedrooms that is located upstairs.
