Doctors willing to wait until Thursday
The doctors who worked for the State Health Foundation (SZF) in July but who still have not received any payment are willing to wait until for their money until Thursday. Ben Hewitt, chairman of the Specialists’
Section within the Association of Physicians in Suriname (VMS), pointed out that they were promised that they would receive payment last week. Given the fact that the new government came into office a few weeks ago, the doctors decided to give more time to get their affairs in order. Several days ago the acting director at SZF, Jolanda Pronk, told the doctors that the health insurance company was busy adjusting its payment procedures and that this would take some time. Pronk explained that the new procedures are part of the new requirements of the new government.
