PORTS-HisMajesty’sCor­rec­tional Ser­vices Com­mis­sioner Gen­er­alI­sa­iahMzuthiniNt­shangase has sanc­tioned the re­sump­tion of the depart­ment’s soc­cer knock­out tour­na­ment.

Nt­shangase has spon­sored the tour­na­ment to the tune of E25 000 which is to be com­peted for by the 10 teams tak­ing part in the on-go­ing Com­mis­sioner Gen­eral’s League.

Re­veal­ing the good news was the League’s Pub­lic Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer

S(PRO) Ma­jaha Kunene who stated thatthe­knock­out­tour­na­men­ti­s­ex­pected to kick-off in a few weeks time. The pub­li­cist then ap­plauded the com­mis­sioner gen­eral for his ges­ture and sup­port within the depart­ment’s sports sec­tion as he said


Nt­shangase has proved to be a gal­lant leader not just a men­tor in all the sec­tors. “The com­mis­sioner gen­eral’s in­volve­ment in sports is one way of en­cour­ag­ing of­fi­cers to be ac­tive in ex­er­cise in­struc­tions. Be­sides his busy sched­ule, Nt­shangase takes his time and at­tends some of the matches on week­ends. As an ex­ec­u­tive com­mit­tee we are so humbled about the com­mis­sioner gen­eral’s shoreup to­wards the sport es­pe­cially soc­cer,” the PRO said.


He fur­ther thanked Nt­shangase for ap­point­ing Muhle Dludlu as the ex­ec­u­tive com­mit­tee chair­per­son as he said his lead­er­ship skills have come in-handy to­wards the league’s suc­cess.

He also ap­plauded the other mem­bers for their sleep­less nights in mak­ing sure the league games reach the ex­pected stan­dard.

Worth not­ing is that the reg­is­tra­tion of play­ers is still on-go­ing and closes on Au­gust 5. Mean­while the tour­na­ment rules re­quire each team to reg­is­ter 30 play­ers, 20 of which them are of­fi­cers and 10 non-of­fi­cers. The or­gan­is­ers went on to thank all the me­dia houses for main­tain­ing their sup­port in cov­er­ing the games.
