Govt con­cerned about shrink­ing wa­ter sources

Gov­ern­ment is con­cerned about the shrink­ing of the coun­try’s wa­ter sources. Min­istry of Agri­cul­ture Prin­ci­pal Sec­re­taryBon­ganiMa­suku­toldthe­gath­er­ing that the is­sue of wa­ter is a gen­uine con­cern for the coun­try. Ma­suku said wa­ter sav­ing tech­niques have been em­ployed in the coun­try, but there is need for more work to be done. He said the coun­try noted that flood ir­ri­ga­tion wastes a lot of wa­ter. He said they will soon be go­ing to Par­lia­ment to seek a law that en­sures the min­i­mal use of wa­ter in the coun­try. He also con­ceded that there is no par­tic­u­lar crop that does not need wa­ter hence the use of wa­ter will con­tinue in the coun­try.
