BARCELONA HELD BY CELTA VIGO
...Ousmane Dembele returns after four-month lay-off but visitors' rotation gamble backfires in Copa del Rey round of 16 first leg
The most expensive signing in Barcelona's history made his return from injury but could not inspire his team to victory over Celta Vigo in the Spanish Cup.
Ousmane Dembele was given 20 minutes but struggled to make an impact in Barca's 1-1 draw in this first-leg last-16 Copa del Rey game.
The £97 million French international tore a tendon in his right thigh last September and had to be operated on in Finland by famed surgeon Sakari Orava.
He struggled in the rain against Celta who might have beaten Barca had it not been for Arsenal target Jose Arnaiz' first half goal.
He put Barca ahead on the quarterhour. Denis Suarez carried the ball into Celta's half, Andre Gomes continued down the left and crossed for Arnaiz who buried the centre with a crisp finish.
It meant the 22-year-old B-team forward, who has been monitored by Arsenal, continued his impressive scoring record for the first team. He has only played three times for Ernesto Valverde this season and in all three games he has scored with his first shot on goal.
He scored in both legs of Barca's last-round cup game against Murcia and here he was at it again.
Signed from Valladolid in the summer, he is the B-team's top scorer with six goals and several clubs have looked at a player whose buyout clause is set at just £17m.
Former Liverpool forward Iago Aspas' head did not go down after Arnais' goal and he went past Gerard Pique in the area but crossed into a crowded area and Barcelona cleared their lines.
TUSSLE: Vigo’s Lobotka fighting for the ball with Paulinho.
PERFECT FINISH: Sisto finished on the rebound after Iago Aspas (centre) saw his close-range effort crash off the cross-bar.
SHOCKER: Pione Sisto (l) shocked the visitors with an impessive finish from a tight angle to level the scoring for Celta Vigo
GOAL: The visitors celebrate with goal-scorer Arnaiz (left) after the youngster opened the scoring with a crisp low shot
