TAEKWONDO – The Taekwondo national team will compete in two international competitions set to take place in March.

The competitions are the African Senior championships and the World President Cup both slated for March at venues yet to be announced by the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF).

The competitions will also help the local side to prepare for next year’s All Africa Games likely to take place in Egypt.

The New Year proves to be busy one for the Swaziland Taekwondo Association (STA) as they also send the junior national squad to the Youth Olympics Qualifiers in June.

The Association Secretary Mbongeni Sibandze said they were still working on the logistics of the national teams when contacted yesterday.

“We are still going to discuss the calendar and budget of the national teams who will be competing in various competitions this year. We will also draw a budget plan for the teams since we want them to gain international exposure by competing with other countries” he said.

The STA will on January 27 host a refereeing course at the OlympAfrica Centre where they will be aligning local officials with the international rules & regulations.
