Farmer loses 23 cows instantly

The extent of cattle theft in the area of Mambane once resulted in a family within the area losing as much as 23 cows in one instant.

The shocking incident, where it is suspected that the cattle rustlers entered the family’s kraal, drove the cattle to the borderline and across to Mozambique, occurred last December.

The area’s resident, Jeremiah Matsenjwa was shocked to find his kraal empty the following morning. It was later discovered that his cattle had been slaughtered on the other side of the Mozambican borderline.

Slaughtered

“I can still remember the incident as if it occurred just yesterday. A total of 23 cows were slaughtered on the other side of the border and when we received information pertaining to this, only carcasses of the cattle were found on the crime scene. Up to this day no arrests have been effected and we don’t know who the culprits are,” disclosed Nyawo in an interview.

The resident continued that it is hard for them to effectively keep guard on their cattle, especially because they no longer know who to trust and not. He said it was hard for them to get to the bottom of the rustling.
