- Floyd Mayweather Jr has fuelled speculation about fighting Conor McGregor in a UFC bout.

Mayweather and UFC champion McGregor squared up in a boxing match last August, with the American comfortably coming out on top.

The 41-year-old has dropped hints that he is ready to step into the Octagon for a rematch with the Irishman.

In a fresh interview with ABSCBN News, Mayweather said that he is not ready to come out of retirement.

However, he refused to shut the door on trying his hand at MMA.

“If I do happen to come back, it'll be in an Octagon,” Mayweather said.

“If I did, but right now, I'm not worried about the Octagon or the

boxing ring.” Mayweather has uploaded videos to social media of himself undergoing MMA training but he claims he is too busy enjoying his retirement to think about signing up for a fight.

“I’m not thinking about fighting right now,” he added.

“As of right now, I'm touring around the world, doing different things, embracing my fans, getting love from all around the world, right now I'm just travelling.

“I don't know what the future holds, but as of right now, I'm retired.” UFC commentator Joe Rogan believes Mayweather will step foot inside the Octagon but believes a bout with CM Punk - rather than McGregor - is more likely.
