Stars fo­cus­ing on Pi­rates clash, says Phung­wayo

- Pa­trick Phung­wayo says Free State Stars will only start think­ing about the Ned­bank Cup fi­nal af­ter their ABSA Pre­mier­ship fi­nal day en­counter with Or­lando Pi­rates.

Phung­wayo will come against his for­mer team in Ea Lla Koto’s last match of the 2017/18 Pre­mier­ship sea­son, sched­uled for Or­lando Sta­dium this af­ter­noon.

Ea Lla Koto will be look­ing for a win over Pi­rates in a bid to fin­ish the sea­son among the top five teams in the Pre­mier­ship ta­ble.

The 30-year old de­fender said he is happy to be en­joy­ing his foot­ball again, hav­ing played a key role in Stars reach­ing the fi­nal of the Ned­bank Cup, where

they will face Mar­itzburg United in Cape Town on May 19. He joined Stars at the start of the sea­son af­ter end­ing a frus­trat­ing spell with Pi­rates.

“We are still fo­cused on the last match against Pi­rates be­fore we can think of the fi­nal,” Phung­wayo told Vo­da­com Soc­cer.

“Yes, I set­tled quickly at Stars af­ter join­ing the team and was able to have a good sea­son with the club.

“I feel there is so much to im­prove, but I’m en­joy­ing my foot­ball again. I be­lieve that I’m not where I want to be as yet.”
