Speaker Themba Msibi has stated that Parliament Standing Orders need to be amended to be in line with what is obtaining in the region.

He said currently, anyone interprets the Standing Orders to suit his or her agenda.

“In order for Parliament to work well, we need to have at least a common understanding of the Standing Orders as they guide us on how we should carry out our work. There have been cases in the past where we appeared to be at variance in our understanding and such created unnecessary tensions,” he said.

Msibi said given an opportunity, all the issues he has experienced can be worked on and Parliament can reclaim its respect.
