The Lubombo Re­gional Ad­min­is­tra­tor Sylvia Mthethwa has pai d trib­ute to the spon­sors and part­ners for the suc­cess of the 2nd a nnual Mlawula Ma­gadza­vane Chall e nge Walk, which was ai med at rais­ing funds for char­ity and was at­tended by over 1 000 peo­ple.

This was said by the many speak­ers who made re­marks dur­ing t he pre­sen­ta­tion of f ood ham­pers, clothes and many other good­ies by the RA a nd t he Eco Lubombo Or­gan­i­sa­tion (ELO) rep­re­sen­ta­tives to the com­mu­nity of Vuvulane S e c t i on 19 on Thurs­day. The pre­sen­ta­tion was hel d at Khany­isil e Neigh­bor­hood Care poi nt which is a project started by the Chris­tian Fam­ily Church Swazi­land in part­ner­ship with lo­cal churches and in­ter­na­tional donors.

She stated t hat t hey were able to make t he do­na­tion be­cause of the con­tri­bu­tion made by the dif­fer­ent part­ners a nd c or po­rat e s t hat c a me through for the walk.

She said t hi s i ni t i a t i ve is a i med at e mpow­er­ing t he un­der-priv­i­leged mem­bers of the Lubombo re­gion.

“In the pur­suit of its ob­jec­tives the ELO would like to ex­tend a hand to some of the ben­e­fi­cia­ries as iden­ti­fied by the stake­hold­ers. It is the hope of the ELO that this en­deavor will grow over­time and of­fer more prac­ti­cal so­lu­tions and op­tions to those in need. The so­cio- eco­nomic chal­lenges faced by t he peo­ple of t he Lubombo re­gion are in­sur­mount­able, but with the help of all t he stake­hold­ers, t he ELO prom­ises to de­liver on its prom­ises,” she said.

Spon­sors and part­ners in the project in­clude the min­istry of tourism and en­vi­ron­men­tal af­fairs, tra­di­tional au­thor­i­ties, MPs, SNTC, ELO mem­bers and gen­eral pub­lic amongst oth­ers.

“It is in­deed an in­di­ca­tion that the peo­ple of Swazi­land can be very sup­port­ive and gen­er­ous. I am pos­i­tive that this ini­tia­tive will grow and ben­e­fit more peo­ple in t he near fu­ture,” she added.

She thanked the lead­er­ship of Vuvulane for sup­port­ing the ini­tia­tive by the church which started the NCP and urged the com­mu­nity lead­er­ship to work with the church in their pur­suit of es­tab­lish­ing an old age home.
