Sunday Observer - - NEWS -

Avoter who fraudulently registered his address as that of an aspiring councillor, was a no show at one of the polling stations in Manzini.

This is one of the anomalies which were only noted after objections had been lodged in Manzini.

According to the aspiring councillor, the young man registered as living in her house was found to be from Ngwane Park and he alleged that he was required by another aspiring councillor to vote for him.

“When we called him, he was evasive at first to the point of stating that he never registered despite his particulars which were availed on the voter’s roll,” the aspiring councillor said yesterday morning. It was only after he was probed further that the young man alleged that he was called by his friend to register so as to make up the numbers for his specific ward and the house was chosen randomly.

Due to objections lodged by aspiring councillors, hundreds of voters were struck off the roll after they were noted to either not belonging the in their chosen ward or being defaulters. Yesterday’s elections were labelled as rigged in Manzini and defaulters reported.
