ONE KILLED, OVER 60 HOMESTEADS WRECKED BY STORM
The storm which caused havoc on Friday killed one person and wrecked over 60 homesteads. This was obtained from the police and the Chief Executive Officer of the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) Russell Dlamini. Dlamini was interviewed when he and the Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Paul Dlamini were visiting places ruined by the storm. Dlamini said the storm greatly wrecked the Manzini region especially Matsapha and Mankayane.
However, the above information may change and the number of homesteads ruined by the storm may rise as the NDMA was still compiling its report.
On the other hand, police through the Deputy Pol i c e I nf or mation a nd Communications Officer Assistant Superintendent Phindile Vilakati reported that on Friday a man aged 34 died after being struck by lightning. Initially, there were two men struck by lightning while at Maduma area in Mbabane. “The victims, with the latter being in a critical condition were rushed to the Mbabane Government Hospital where the 34-yearold was certified dead on arrival,” Vilakati said.
She said the other man age 44 was treated and discharged.
