ONE KILLED, OVER 60 HOME­STEADS WRECKED BY STORM

The storm which caused havoc on Fri­day killed one per­son and wrecked over 60 home­steads. This was ob­tained from the po­lice and the Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer of the Na­tional Dis­as­ter Man­age­ment Agency (NDMA) Rus­sell Dlamini. Dlamini was in­ter­viewed when he and the Deputy Prime Min­is­ter (DPM) Paul Dlamini were vis­it­ing places ru­ined by the storm. Dlamini said the storm greatly wrecked the Manzini re­gion es­pe­cially Mat­sapha and Mankayane.

In­for­ma­tion

How­ever, the above in­for­ma­tion may change and the num­ber of home­steads ru­ined by the storm may rise as the NDMA was still com­pil­ing its re­port.

On the other hand, po­lice through the Deputy Pol i c e I nf or ma­tion a nd Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Of­fi­cer As­sis­tant Su­per­in­ten­dent Phindile Vi­lakati re­ported that on Fri­day a man aged 34 died af­ter be­ing struck by light­ning. Ini­tially, there were two men struck by light­ning while at Mad­uma area in Mba­bane. “The vic­tims, with the lat­ter be­ing in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion were rushed to the Mba­bane Gov­ern­ment Hospi­tal where the 34-yearold was cer­ti­fied dead on ar­rival,” Vi­lakati said.

She said the other man age 44 was treated and dis­charged.
