Matsapha start SBS Club Champs on a high note
TMatsapha Tennis Club started the 2017 Swaziland Building Society (SBS) Tennis Club Championships on a high note at the UNISWA Kwaluseni Courts yesterday.
The club recorded victories in both the men’s singles and men’s doubles, beating Lobamba Tennis Club by 7-4 and 7-2, respectively.
The two day annual competition, played under six categories, namely ladies doubles and singles, men’s doubles and singles, veterans, and mixed doubles, is expected to end this afternoon.
Swaziland National Tennis Association (SNTA) Secretary Nqaba Mkhaliphi said they were happy with the performances of the clubs in the opening matches.
“We are excited with the pro- ceedings of day one and we are hoping to see more exciting action in day two.
There will be a prize presentation tomorrow (today) where the winners will be awarded for their achievements,” he said.
Mkhaliphi also stated that they would be taking part in the 2018 Mozambique Open to be held from 10-17 December in Maputo.
“We are still trying to determine whether we will send the team to the games or not as we have some challenges.
Some individuals have, however, expressed interest to attend the games and we will announce other details in due course,” he said.
