Po­lice back from in­ves­ti­gat­ing Sipho’s past

The lo­cal po­lice who left the coun­try over three weeks ago to in­ves­ti­gate Sipho Shongwe’s past have re­turned to the coun­try.

Well-placed sources said the po­lice mad head way, with­out stat­ing what it is that was found.

Of note, the po­lice were ini­tially said to have been try­ing to link Shongwe to a heist which took place in 1997 which saw two se­cu­rity of­fi­cers killed when E17mil­lion was taken by sev­eral rob­bers.

The Sipho Shongwe who was in­volved in that in­ci­dent was, ac­cord­ing to South African me­dia archives, sen­tenced to two life sen­tences.

How­ever, the lo­cal man, this past week re­vealed his tainted past when he said he was re­leased on pa­role while serv­ing a 27-year sen­tence in March 2008.
