LOCAL country musicians Dusty& Stones are currently leading the charts in Ireland’s country radio stations.

The duo from Mooihoek in the Shiselweni region, currently holds the second position, ahead of top names in the international music industry.

Leading the charts is one of the industry’s top names such as Bruce Springsteen.

Dusty (real name Gazi Simelane) expressed amazement and stated that the international exposure came about after the radio station UCC98.3 FM, requested to hear their whole album titled ‘Mooihoek Country Fever’.

“This was for their radio programme known as Country Undercover and they got smitten with our sound after they listened to one of our tracks called ‘Ride with me’, which is now in the top two on its charts,” he revealed.

He added that this has created a platform for them as more country radio stations in the United Kingdom have also requested for copies of their album.

“We are making means to send it there. In fact it might probably be there but the time this report even goes to print,” Dusty revealed.

When reached for comment, LindaMsibi also known as Stones, the other member of the group, revealed that he was beyond amazed and humbled.

“When we started this, we just wanted to sing for folks in our home town and now we are on top charts overseas; I ‘m stunned,” he said,

The duo went on to add that their dream now is to tour the United Kingdom, especially Ireland and England, where they have gained a bigger fan base.

The radio host Dylan Fitzgerald, who discovered the duo together with his co-host KieranMurphy stated that the duo was sizzling hot.

He revealed that they came to know about the group after one of his colleague Kieran Murphy dared him to find country music singers from Africa.

“They were the first name that popped up when I went to the internet and was even blown away when I got to listen to their track titled ‘Ride with me’ and then the rest of our listeners and my colleagues began to fall in love with their music,” Dylan explained. He went on to add that the duo should keep singing as their country sound is beautiful and they are awesome musicians and composers.
