MAHWALALA MAN ACCUSED OF RAPING GIRL (13)
A 26-year-old man was remanded back to police custody following his first court appearance over rape charges.
Magistrate Sifiso Vilakati made the ruling after the Crown Counsel Chris Sibandze moved an application for a remand pending a medical report. Sibandze asked the court to give suspect, Nhlanhla Sibanda, a trial date.
The crown opposed his bail application as he was told he was facing a serious matter. However, he is expected to move a bail application at the High Court due to the seriousness of the charge.
The man from Mahwalala Zone Five was then advised to appear before court on September 21. He is alleged to have committed the crime on Saturday while at Mahwalala. He is accused of raping a 13-year-old girl. He is alleged to have done so without using protection and thus exposed the survivor to contract sexually transmitted diseases and HIV and AIDS.
It is said he left the minor with a physical and life time mental trauma. In another matter, in Lobamba, another 26-year-old man was arrested for abduction.
Ntokozo Dlamini was allowed to pay bail fixed at E2 000 by the court following his appearance for allegedly abducting a 16-year-old girl who was attending the Umhlanga ceremony. He is alleged to have committed this crime on September 2 while at Lobamba.
Vilakati warned Dlamini to be back in court on September 22.
