MAHWALALA MAN AC­CUSED OF RAP­ING GIRL (13)

A 26-year-old man was re­manded back to po­lice cus­tody fol­low­ing his first court ap­pear­ance over rape charges.

Mag­is­trate Si­fiso Vi­lakati made the rul­ing af­ter the Crown Coun­sel Chris Sibandze moved an ap­pli­ca­tion for a re­mand pend­ing a med­i­cal re­port. Sibandze asked the court to give sus­pect, Nh­lanhla Sibanda, a trial date.

The crown op­posed his bail ap­pli­ca­tion as he was told he was fac­ing a se­ri­ous mat­ter. How­ever, he is ex­pected to move a bail ap­pli­ca­tion at the High Court due to the se­ri­ous­ness of the charge.

The man from Mahwalala Zone Five was then ad­vised to ap­pear be­fore court on Septem­ber 21. He is al­leged to have com­mit­ted the crime on Satur­day while at Mahwalala. He is ac­cused of rap­ing a 13-year-old girl. He is al­leged to have done so with­out us­ing pro­tec­tion and thus ex­posed the sur­vivor to con­tract sex­u­ally trans­mit­ted dis­eases and HIV and AIDS.

It is said he left the mi­nor with a phys­i­cal and life time men­tal trauma. In an­other mat­ter, in Lobamba, an­other 26-year-old man was ar­rested for ab­duc­tion.

Ntokozo Dlamini was al­lowed to pay bail fixed at E2 000 by the court fol­low­ing his ap­pear­ance for al­legedly ab­duct­ing a 16-year-old girl who was at­tend­ing the Umh­langa cer­e­mony. He is al­leged to have com­mit­ted this crime on Septem­ber 2 while at Lobamba.

Vi­lakati warned Dlamini to be back in court on Septem­ber 22.
