PM applauds over E3bn sugar sector expansion investments
PRIME Miniser Dr. Sibusiso Dlamini has applauded the resourceful investments made by the sugar industry to date.
Speaking during the commemoration of the Swaziland Sugar Association (SSA) golden jubilee, Dlamini said innovation in the sector has led to a degree of value addition.
He noted the E1 billion Ubombo factory expansions and the E2 billion invested to improve milling and cane growing efficiencies.
“Innovation in the sugar industry has led to increased value addition,” he said.
The prime minister also commended the production of electricity from bagasse and further urged the industry stakeholders to consider the aspect of benefit sharing.
“There is also further potential to increase production of additional products such as ethanol,” he said.
