STA gives out E5 000 prizes

THE Swazi­land Tourism Author­ity (STA) gave away E5 000 worth of prizes dur­ing the com­mem­o­ra­tion of the World Tourism Day on Wed­nes­day.

The prizes were an­nounced by STA Board Chair­per­son Nomsa Ma­bila.

The win­ners par­tic­i­pated in a com­pe­ti­tion which was in­tended to es­tab­lish how much were peo­ple aware of sus­tain­able tourism.

The event was themed ‘Sus­tain­able tourism, a tool for de­vel­op­ment.”

Ma­bila said the theme was an op­por­tu­nity to raise aware­ness of the con­tri­bu­tion of sus­tain­able tourism to de­vel­op­ment among pub­lic and pri­vate sec­tor de­ci­sion mak­ers. “In or­der for us to live in a peace­ful eco sys­tem we would like to en­cour­age the na­tion to bet­ter take care of the en­vi­ron­ment. We are happy to award th­ese dif­fer­ent in­di­vid­u­als who see the im­por­tance of the tourism sec­tor and have a bet­ter un­der­stand­ing of sus­tain­able tourism,” she said.
