Misunderstanding

Bulletin - - Jobs Of The Future -

Unfortunately, Mr. Fukuyama misunderstood Brexit and “Trumpism.” His first mistake was to use the term populism so disdainfully. Fukuyama seems to think that democracy is all right as long as people make what he deems “correct and wise” decisions. In fact, however, democracy is whatever the majority of voters decide. Brexit and Trump’s election were great moments for democracy. Changes like these protect us from brutal revolutions. These two events are rational responses by the people of two countries with a long tradition of democracy. The voters want to protect their jobs, their standard of living and their cultural values. Victor Lopez, Rothesay, New Brunswick, Canada
