World as ILand
The chairs surrounding the dining table form a petal-like shape, adding more character to the dining area between kitchen and living room more stylish
Lillian Yang, Assistant General Manager of Dylan, while nurturing her skills to think outside the box during her studies at Columbia University (NewYork), has learned to appreciate the dedication of oriental beauty within the Japanese spirit of attention to detail and refinement at Waseda University (Tokyo). The importance of personal space and privacy of the western world is apparent in Lillian’s design for the “iLand- Conceptual Showflat.” Bold and unique, Lillian artistically portrays the best qualities of blue to recreate a living space comparable to a resort paradise. With the right use of color, the dwelling space helps to bring vivacity and vibrancy to the mundane of everyday life.
Precision methods for luxurious living
Recalling entering the house for the first time, the design concept uses different shades of blue Bissaza mosaic tiles throughout the entire living space to echo the blue tides of the Southeast Asia islands; although similar to Taiwan climatically, the stress index of city living vastly differs. Since it is unrealistic to visit the island resorts on a daily basis, why not recreate this lifestyle right at home, the sacred sanctuary to unwind after a stressful day? The” iLand –Conceptual Showflat”
recreates the memorable sunshine and vibrant colors of the tropical islands and ocean with large floor to ceiling window panels to ensure abundant natural lighting, while the linen curtains of gradient blue creates the illusion of the rolling waves. The premium Bissaza mosaic tiles of the accent wall behind the TV cabinet raises the overall tactile appeal to the next level by the concise use of 1x1cm, 2x2cm and 2x5cm mosaic tiles aligned to form a visually empowering wall.
The piano key inspired central corridor serves as a divider between the public functioning spaces, (the kitchen, dining & living rooms, master bedroom, study room) and the private functioning spaces (the bedrooms). This open plan layout of the communal space helps to enhance the interaction between each quarter while providing a safe cocoon for family members seeking some alone time. The effect resulting from this rare and avant-garde space layout configuration can only be said to be astounding.
Hard to miss, the common factor between the bookshelf dividers, flooring patterns, curtain box and the bedroom closet door panels are all designed based on the 45-degree angle design factor. The angle of the bookcase dividers allows for clear view of the books within reach on the shelves. As for the rest of the house, instead of creating a sense of constriction within, the 45-degree angle helps to unify and bring the bold design of the entire space in line visually.
Exploration through premium materials
Sophisticated interior decor, the mix and match of materials and displays can be found within iLandConceptual Showflat House in abundance. For
example the kitchen island countertop is made of sliced lapis lazuli inlaid in translucent glass box. With the light running within the countertop glass box, when lit, the iridescent blue halo transforms it into a piece of jewel centerpiece! Another design not to be overlooked is the bathtub of the master bedroom. The designer, choosing a rare turquoise color sets the tub below floor level to provide the resident complete privacy while inhibited enjoyment of the view. Within such a unique space where the details extend even to the color selection of a bathtub, the iLand-Conceptual Showflat fully embodies the alluring aspects of a sophisticated lifestyle.
For someone with a keen sense to the colour as Lillian, she believes that each “home” is the private island that best expresses individuality and living habits. On the brink of being considered wild, her charm and talent is hard to ignore with her bold and daring liberating use of various material, colour and texture within the interior space. Not only to awaken the imagination of leisure living, the “iLandConcept Showflat” is the new advocate for bold use of colour in interior spaces. For those that are unsatisfied with the bland hue of minimalist interior spaces, it is time to add a splash of colour!
