Acer un­veils in­dus­try 1st Chrome OS all-in-one PC

Tai­wanese com­puter maker Acer Inc. ( ) ex­panded its Chrome OS prod­uct line on Wed­nes­day by launch­ing the in­dus­try’s first Chrome all-in-one desk­top PC with a touch dis­play.

The new Acer Chrome­base comes with a full-HD res­o­lu­tion and a 178-de­gree view­ing an­gle dis­play that in­cor­po­rates 10-point touch tech­nol­ogy.

The de­vice boots up in 10 sec­onds and has mul­ti­ple lay­ers of se­cu­rity built-in with au­to­matic sys­tem up­dates, Acer said in a press re­lease.

Chrome OS sup­ports mul­ti­ple users and ac­counts, and pho­tos, videos, mu­sic and doc­u­ments are all syn­chro­nized and backed-up by the user’s Google ac­count.

The Chrome­base will be avail­able in North Amer­i­can and Asi­aPa­cific mar­kets in the sec­ond quar­ter at an “af­ford­able” price, ac­cord­ing to the Tai­wanese com­pany.

Acer, which cre­ated its Chrome OS fam­ily in 2011, said the new desk­top PC con­tin­ues “Acer’s lead­er­ship in the Chrome OS mar­ket” af­ter it launched the world’s first 15.6-inch Chrome­book lap­top and a com­mer­cial Chrome­book pow­ered by In­tel Corp.’s Core i5 pro­ces­sor ear­lier this year.
