Acer unveils industry 1st Chrome OS all-in-one PC
Taiwanese computer maker Acer Inc. ( ) expanded its Chrome OS product line on Wednesday by launching the industry’s first Chrome all-in-one desktop PC with a touch display.
The new Acer Chromebase comes with a full-HD resolution and a 178-degree viewing angle display that incorporates 10-point touch technology.
The device boots up in 10 seconds and has multiple layers of security built-in with automatic system updates, Acer said in a press release.
Chrome OS supports multiple users and accounts, and photos, videos, music and documents are all synchronized and backed-up by the user’s Google account.
The Chromebase will be available in North American and AsiaPacific markets in the second quarter at an “affordable” price, according to the Taiwanese company.
Acer, which created its Chrome OS family in 2011, said the new desktop PC continues “Acer’s leadership in the Chrome OS market” after it launched the world’s first 15.6-inch Chromebook laptop and a commercial Chromebook powered by Intel Corp.’s Core i5 processor earlier this year.
