Sri Lanka seeks out as­sis­tance to evac­u­ate na­tion­als from Ye­men

Sri Lanka's gov­ern­ment said Fri­day that it has sought as­sis­tance from neigh­bor­ing In­dia and China to help evac­u­ate its cit­i­zens in Ye­men amid the rag­ing vi­o­lence there.

For­eign Min­istry spokesman Satya Ro­drigo said that the min­istry has de­tails of 81 Sri Lankans in the coun­try.

He said In­dia and China have agreed to move the Sri Lankans along with their na­tion­als out of Ye­men.

Three Sri Lankans are re­ported to have reached Dji­bouti, he said.

The min­istry said it has also con­tacted the In­ter­na­tional Or­ga­ni­za­tion for Migration for help.
