Pop diva A-mei to kick off concert marathon Saturday
Taiwan’s pop diva A-mei is set to launch a concert marathon in Taipei starting Saturday, performing 10 concerts over the span of 12 days.
The “Utopia World Tour” concerts, with an estimated production cost of NT$170 million (US$5.47 million), will take place at the Taipei Arena from Saturday to April 15. All 120,000 tickets were snatched up just 12 minutes after they went on sale in December last year.
The popular singer is expected to perform six songs from her new album “AMIT2,” as well as her other hit songs during the performances.
To give her fans a unique experi- ence, A-mei has introduced concert tickets in the form of chip cards that have the ticket holders’ names printed on them.
“Maybe I am a little stubborn, but I want every detail to be perfect on this tour,” A-mei said, expressing hope that the concert tickets will serve as her fans’ customized “Utopia citizenship certificate.”
A total of 120,000 red masks will also be distributed at the concerts to encourage fans to be themselves, enjoy the music and not be affected by what others think of them because “everyone is equal in my music, regardless of their gender and identity,” the singer said.
