SPCA pushes for a ban on an­i­mal cos­met­ics testing

The Tai­wan So­ci­ety for the Pre­ven­tion of Cru­elty to An­i­mals (TSPCA) is hold­ing an ex­hi­bi­tion in Taipei to raise aware­ness of the suf­fer­ing of an­i­mals used in cos­met­ics testing and to call for a leg­isla­tive ban on such testing.

The TSPCA pointed out that as the cos­met­ics in­dus­try and tech­nol­ogy ad­vance, an­i­mal testing for cos­met­ics can be avoided in many cases.

The ad­vo­cacy group called for the Leg­is­la­ture to amend the law to ban such testing, fol­low­ing in the foot­steps of the Euro­pean Union, Is­rael, In­dia, South Korea and New Zealand.

The ex­hi­bi­tion is be­ing held in a square next to the Shin Kong Mit­sukoshi Depart­ment Store in Xinyi Dis­trict, Taipei, un­til Mon­day.
