Lo­cal mar­ket ends higher at 9,641.9 af­ter NYC jump

Shares in Tai­wan closed up Tues­day as in­vestors took hints from a jump on Wall Street overnight, deal­ers said.

The weighted in­dex on the Tai­wan Stock Ex­change closed up 41.58 points, or 0.43 per­cent, at 9,641.9, af­ter mov­ing be­tween 9,613.13 and 9,653.97. Turnover to­taled NT$90.58 bil­lion (US$2.91 bil­lion) dur­ing the ses­sion.

All cat­e­gories of shares moved up, led by petro­chem­i­cal stocks which spiked on an in­crease in crude oil prices.

Among high- tech stocks, shares of smart­phone cam­era lens sup­plier Lar­gan Pre­ci­sion Co. ( ) gained 0.92 per­cent to end at NT$2,755.
