HTC un­veils cus­tom­ized cell­phones for China

Tai­wanese smart­phone maker HTC Corp. ( un­veiled two big­ger-screen vari­ants of its One M9 flag­ship phone in China Wed­nes­day with cus­tom­ized soft­ware fea­tures for Chi­nese con­sumers.

Just weeks af­ter the One M9 de­buted at the Mo­bile World Congress show in Barcelona, HTC took the wraps off the One M9 Plus in Bei­jing — a slightly larger phone with a nearly iden­ti­cal metal uni­body de­sign.

The ma­jor en­hance­ments of the M9 Plus in­clude a 5.2-inch 2K dis­play with a res­o­lu­tion of 1440 x 2560 pix­els, a Me­di­aTek MT6795T octa-core 2.2GHz mo­bile pro­ces­sor, a finger­print scan­ner built into a home but­ton on the front, the new-and-im­proved Duo Cam­era and sup­port for up to 2TB of mi­cro-SD ex­ter­nal stor­age.

An­other new hand­set an­nounced that same day is the less ex­pen­sive E9 Plus, which sports a 5.5 inch 2K dis­play, a Me­di­aTek MT6795 octa- core pro­ces­sor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of in­ter­nal stor­age and a 20-megapixel main cam­era.
