The China Post - - LOCAL -

A wanted man shot himself in the head late last night in Kaohsiung after finding that he was completely surrounded by the police and there was no possibility of escape.

The man, surnamed Chen, was wanted by police on assualt charges. Chen refused to stop at a police checkpoint in Kaohsiung’s Fongshan District ( ), which led to a car chase ending in Siaogang District ( ).

Chen hid himself in the car and waved a gun to warn the police not to approach. After failing to persuade Chen to surrender himself, the police attempted to apprehend him by force, but he chose to shoot himself in the head when police broke the window of his car with a hammer.

Chen was immediately sent to a nearby hospital.
