Celebrity Peng Hsin-yi dies in apparent suicide
The model and celebrity Peng Hsin-yi ( ), a TV host and movie actress known by her stage name Cindy ( ), was found at her residence Tuesday in what police described the following day as an apparent suicide.
Peng, 24, used to host the variety show “Love Player ( )” between 2011 and 2013 and just recently starred in the movie “First of May ( ).”
Peng, who was daughter of former Council of Agriculture head Peng Tso-kwei ( ), was found dead at her residence, along with a helium bottle and a farewell letter, police said.
According to the police, Peng said in the note that she had been bullied at work. Her family members, meanwhile, said they will hold a press conference Thursday in which they will address the suicide.
Many of Peng’s colleagues have extended their condolences, including TV host Tao Ching-ying ( ) and “First of May” director Chou Ke-tai ( ).
Tao, who worked with Peng on the variety show “University,” posted on her Facebook page: “Don’t heed the haters but don’t ignore those who love you.”
The news also shocked Peng’s fans, who have flooded online with messages of remembrance for the entertainer.
