Celebrity Peng Hsin-yi dies in ap­par­ent sui­cide

The model and celebrity Peng Hsin-yi ( ), a TV host and movie actress known by her stage name Cindy ( ), was found at her res­i­dence Tues­day in what po­lice de­scribed the fol­low­ing day as an ap­par­ent sui­cide.

Peng, 24, used to host the va­ri­ety show “Love Player ( )” be­tween 2011 and 2013 and just re­cently starred in the movie “First of May ( ).”

Peng, who was daugh­ter of for­mer Coun­cil of Agri­cul­ture head Peng Tso-kwei ( ), was found dead at her res­i­dence, along with a helium bot­tle and a farewell let­ter, po­lice said.

Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice, Peng said in the note that she had been bul­lied at work. Her fam­ily mem­bers, mean­while, said they will hold a press con­fer­ence Thurs­day in which they will ad­dress the sui­cide.

Many of Peng’s col­leagues have ex­tended their con­do­lences, in­clud­ing TV host Tao Ching-ying ( ) and “First of May” direc­tor Chou Ke-tai ( ).

Tao, who worked with Peng on the va­ri­ety show “Uni­ver­sity,” posted on her Face­book page: “Don’t heed the haters but don’t ig­nore those who love you.”

The news also shocked Peng’s fans, who have flooded on­line with mes­sages of re­mem­brance for the en­ter­tainer.
