Taipower kicks off en­ergy sav­ing con­test to raise aware­ness; fea­tures NT$500,000 prize

The Tai­wan Power Com­pany (Taipower) yes­ter­day an­nounced that it would be kick­ing off the na­tional en­ergy sav­ing com­pe­ti­tion, and is of­fer­ing a to­tal of NT$22.5 mil­lion in prize money for peo­ple who suc­ceed in sav­ing the most en­ergy.

Aside from the

prize money, Taipower will also be pro­mot­ing an en­ergy sav­ing ac­tiv­ity that awarded prizes to the win­ners, as a re­sponse to the Ex­ec­u­tive Yuan’s call for en­ergy sav­ing.

The cam­paign is be­ing launched as Taipower hopes peo­ple will make en­ergy sav­ing a habit in their lives, with the goal of en­cour­ag­ing more peo­ple to join the com­mu­nity in sav­ing en­ergy.

Peo­ple who man­aged to save the most en­ergy for three con­sec­u­tive years may win NT$500,000, and those who saved 2 per­cent more en­ergy com­pared to the same pe­riod of time last year will win NT$2,000 in coupons for house­hold elec­tric ap­pli­ances.
