Taiwan ranked world’s 38th happiest country
Taiwan ranked 38th in the 2015 World Happiness Report, up four notches from last year.
The report, which covers 158 countries around the world, was released Thursday in New York by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network for the United Nations.
It uses six variables to measure happiness: real GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity and perceptions of corruption. The happiest country in the world in 2015 is Switzerland, followed by Iceland, Denmark, Norway and Canada, according to the report.
Rounding out the top 10 are Finland, the Netherlands, Sweden, New Zealand and Australia.
The United States is ranked 15th, while the United Kingdom and Germany are at 21st and 26th places, respectively.
