Golden Pin calls for more int’l entries
National Taiwan University of Arts (NTUA) and a member of the jury in this year’s Golden Pin competition, entries will be assessed in two stages, with winners vying to receive one of 13 cash prizes, totaling NT$1 million. All winners receive additional benefits in the form of promotional and exhibition opportunities offered by the Golden Pin Concept Design Award team, he pointed out. But what is an award-winning design?
“Don’t look into the winning designs from last year’s competition for design ideas,” warned Ho. “Participants should look into contemporary issues and ways to solve these problems with original design.”
By looking into new ways to solve practical problems, Ho believes that your ideas could “make a difference” with the members of the jury either for the Golden Pin Concept Design Award and Golden Pin Design Award. Last year, the former attracted a record-breaking 1,901 products and projects from eight countries and regions, and close to 40 percent of the 416 Design Mark winners were from outside Taiwan. Products and projects from mainland China, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore were among the top 21 Best Design winners.
As the executer of the annual Golden Pin competition, which is organized by the Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs and sponsored by Canmeg AVEDA, the Taiwan Design Center hopes to attract even more candidates this year.
