Weather front is bringing torrential rain to Taiwan
The Central Weather Bureau issued a heavy rain warning Saturday for the western and northeastern parts of Taiwan and for mountainous areas in the eastern and southeastern regions, as a weather front arrived in the country.
As of 5 p.m., Dongshan in Tainan City had already received 41 mm of rainfall for the day, and Xihu in Changhua County 37.5 millimeters, while in New Taipei, the district of Shulin had recorded 29 mm, Banqiao 28.5 millimeters, and Yonghe 25.5 millimeters.
According to meteorologist Peng Chi-ming, the front will remain over Taiwan on Sunday, continuing to bring heavy rains, but the wet weather will ease on Monday as the front leaves.
Hot sunny weather can be expected again from Tuesday, Peng said.
