Weather front is bring­ing tor­ren­tial rain to Tai­wan

The Cen­tral Weather Bureau is­sued a heavy rain warn­ing Satur­day for the west­ern and north­east­ern parts of Tai­wan and for moun­tain­ous ar­eas in the eastern and south­east­ern re­gions, as a weather front ar­rived in the coun­try.

As of 5 p.m., Dong­shan in Tainan City had al­ready re­ceived 41 mm of rain­fall for the day, and Xihu in Changhua County 37.5 mil­lime­ters, while in New Taipei, the dis­trict of Shulin had recorded 29 mm, Ban­qiao 28.5 mil­lime­ters, and Yonghe 25.5 mil­lime­ters.

Ac­cord­ing to me­te­o­rol­o­gist Peng Chi-ming, the front will re­main over Tai­wan on Sun­day, con­tin­u­ing to bring heavy rains, but the wet weather will ease on Mon­day as the front leaves.

Hot sunny weather can be ex­pected again from Tues­day, Peng said.
