Weather will re­main dry un­til mid-June, says CWB

Tai­wan’s weather hit a dis­cernible dry spell in early June and is ex­pected to re­main dry un­til mid- June, the Cen­tral Weather Bureau ( CWB) said Tues­day.

Af­ter this year’s plum rain sea­son be­gan on May 1, there was spo­radic rain­fall, CWB Direc­tor Cheng Ming-dean ( said on the bureau’s web­site.

Be­gin­ning May 20, there was a wave of con­tin­u­ous rain­fall, with the rain­fall in cen­tral and south­ern Tai­wan con­tin­u­ing into late May, Cheng said.

In early June, the weather turned dry and will prob­a­bly re­main so un­til mid June, he said.

How much pre­cip­i­ta­tion is in store af­ter mid-June is not yet clear, he said.
