Apple to collaborate with Hon Hai over data center
Apple Inc. will work with Foxconn Technology Group — known as Hon Hai Group in Taiwan — to promote its Asia - Pacific data center located in China’s Guizhou Province, Chinese media reported Thursday.
Lisa Jackson, Apple’s vice president of environmental initiatives, said the company attaches great importance to big data industry, with emphasis on data security and the values of data mining concepts.
Foxconn has built what is described as a green tunnellike data center in Guiyang, southwestern China. The design criteria for the facility is based on minimizing energy consumption.
In July 2014, Foxconn announced the signing of five deals with Guizhou to develop big data and nanotechnology.
Foxconn also holds a 21.5-percent share in the Global Big Data Exchange, the first big data exchange operation in China.
