MAS flight makes emer­gency land­ing af­ter en­gine caught fire

A Malaysia Air­lines (MAS) plane bound for Kuala Lumpur made an emer­gency land­ing in Mel­bourne, Australia shortly af­ter take­off on Fri­day be­cause of an en­gine fire.

Air­craft track­ing app FlightRadar re­ported a fire in Flight MH148’ s star­board en­gine room.

It is learnt that emer­gency re­sponse units were called to the air­port at around 2: 20 p. m. lo­cal time.

Mel­bourne Air­port has said that the air­craft landed safely.

“All op­er­a­tions at the Mel­bourne Air­port con­tinue as nor­mal,” it said in a post on Face­book.

MAS also con­firmed the in­ci­dent in a tweet.

“MH148 MEL-KUL made an air-turn back and landed un­event­fully. The air­craft is be­ing grounded for in­ves­ti­ga­tion. More de­tails to fol­low,” the air­line said.
