Kinmen aims to become economic pilot zone
Kinmen County Magistrate Chen Fu-hai ( ) said Sunday he will spare no effort to strive for support for Kinmen to become a pilot zone for trade and economic cooperation between the two sides of Taiwan Strait.
Chen spelled out the pledge at a cross-strait forum in Xiamen, Fujian Province, China, according to report by Xinhua News Agency, the Chinese government's mouthpiece.
At the forum, the head of the Taiwan- controlled archipelago of Kinmen, situated close to the coast of southern China, touted that his county has played a key role in the development of cross- strait ties thanks to its geographic position.
The problems, such as water and electricity supplies that are challenging Kinmen, can only be tangibly resolved through crossstrait cooperation, Chen was cited as saying in the Xinhua report.
