Aca­demi­cian is given an NIA Plum Blos­som Card

Amer­i­can Academia Sinica Aca­demi­cian Pro­fes­sor Sun­ney I. Chan ( ) on June 11 re­ceived an hon­orary Alien Res­i­dence Card, the Plum Blos­som Card ( ) from the Na­tional Im­mi­gra­tion Agency (NIA) for 18 years of con­tri­bu­tions to lo­cal aca­demic so­ci­eties and ad­vance­ment of Tai­wanese tech­nolo­gies.

The NIA said Chan is an in­ter­na­tion­ally renowned author­ity in the world of Bio­phys­i­cal Chem­istry, hav­ing held po­si­tions at hon­or­able in­sti­tu­tions such as the Cal­i­for­nia In­sti­tute of Tech­nol­ogy.

Dur­ing an in­ter­view, NIA Direc­tor- Gen­eral Mo Tien- hu ( ) said the Plum Blos­som Card is awarded to pro­fes­sional in­di­vid­u­als with con­tri­bu­tions to the na­tion, as well as mis­sion­ar­ies and in­vestors. As such, Chan right­fully de­serves the ac­co­lade, for his count­less con­tri­bu­tions over the last 18 years.
