Apple Watch to go on sale in only 10 Taiwan stores initially: sources
Just days before Apple Inc.’ s smartwatch is scheduled to go on sale in Taiwan, a local tech news website has reported that the device will be available in only 10 local retail stores initially.
Starting June 26, Taiwanese consumers will be able to try on or purchase the Apple Watch at 10 select Appleauthorized resellers in Taipei, New Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung, the site Applealmond. com said Sunday, citing anonymous sources.
In Taipei, the smartwatch will be available at Studio A’s three branches at the Taipei 101 Mall, Miramar Entertainment Park and Dayeh Takashimaya Department Store, at iStore’s Xinyi branch, and at Data Express’ fl agship store at Q Square, the report said.
The watch will be also available at Data Express’ two branches at Mega City shopping mall in New Taipei, at Top City shopping mall in Taichung, and at iStore’s Taichung branch, according to the report.
Consumers in Southern Taiwan can purchase the Apple Watch only at Data Express’ flagship store at Kaohsiung’s Hanshin Arena Store and Studio A’s branch at Kaohsiung’s Star Place, the report said.
The top- of- the- line Apple Watch Edition, however, will be available only at Studio A’s Taipei 101 Mall branch, the report said.
The Apple Watch features a wide range of unique technology, including the latest touch technology, Force Touch, which allows users to change some settings by pressing firmly on the screen.
Taiwan was included in the second batch of countries where the Apple Watch is made available, along with Italy, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Spain and Switzerland.
The device is available in three editions — the Apple Watch Sport that starts at US$ 349, he Apple Watch priced at US$ 549, and the premium Apple Watch Edition, crafted from custom rose or yellow 18- karat gold alloys and carrying a starting price of US$ 10,000.
