NBA player Kobe Bryant to visit Taipei in Au­gust

Kobe Bryant will visit Tai­wan on Aug. 5 to at­tend the sum­mer bas­ket­ball camp “Rise” or­ga­nized by Nike Tai­wan.

Dur­ing his one- day stay, the Los An­ge­les Lak­ers su­per­star will in­struct young play­ers from Tai­wan, Hong Kong, and China at the camp, which is be­ing held at the Na­tional Tai­wan Univer­sity Sports Cen­ter.

The 36-year-old Bryant is also sched­uled to at­tend the open­ing cer­e­mony of a Nike store in Jiantan in Taipei and will do­nate a bas­ket­ball jersey to a lo­cal ele­men­tary school bas­ket­ball team.

Bryant will be vis­it­ing Tai­wan for the fourth time, fol­low­ing pre­vi­ous trips here in 2006, 2007, and 2009. It will likely be his last trip to Tai­wan as an ac­tive player be­cause he is ex­pected to re­tire af­ter the 2015-16 sea­son.
