Ma’s checkup took place at China Medical University Hospital in Taichung City and completed at about 4:45pm. It is the first time that the president has picked a hospital far away from Taipei for his annual checkup. The previous hospitals were located in the capital or Taoyuan City, both of which are in Northern Taiwan.

The president has visited a different hospital each year to demonstrate the professionalism and quality of service available at local hospitals and to learn more about the general situation at hospitals in Taiwan, according to a presidential aide.
