Gov’t to promote mobile app safety certifications
Taiwan’s Industrial Development Bureau is scheduled to begin promoting app safety certification next week as part of efforts to help app users keep their information secure and to develop an app certification industry for the country, Vice Premier Chang San-cheng said Monday.
This safety certification mechanism will be the first of its kind in the world, Chang said at a presentation of training courses for people seeking to become mobile app and relevant software instructors.
The planned mechanism will not be obligatory until a law governing its implementation is drafted and passed by the Legislative Yuan, Chang went on.
Prior to that, the mechanism will be carried out in three stages, he said, noting that in the first stage, the Industrial Development Bureau will guide local qualified laboratories to set up app certification technique departments, establish a certification fee- charging mechanism, and develop a certification industry.
