MOEA to host Kaoh­si­ung food show to help over­seas mar­kets

As food busi­nesses in Tai­wan try to meet the de­mands of for­eign tourists, the Bureau of For­eign Trade un­der the Min­istry of Eco­nomic Af­fairs ( ) is plan­ning the 2015 Kaoh­si­ung Food Show ( ) to let food com­pa­nies present their prod­ucts.

The food show will be held on Nov. 5 this year by the Tai­wan Ex­ter­nal Trade De­vel­op­ment Coun­cil ( TAITRA, ) to dis­play fresh and high-qual­ity Tai­wanese food.

The TAITRA said last year that the 2014 Kaoh­si­ung Food Show, which is the most suit­able pur­chas­ing place for lo­cal food com­pa­nies, at­tracted thou­sands of peo­ple from over 30 coun­tries and cre­ated busi­ness op­por­tu­ni­ties worth roughly NT$1 bil­lion. The items on dis­play in­cluded agri­cul­tural pro­duce, dairy prod­ucts, aquatic prod­ucts and or­ganic food.

The TAITRA added that the food show last year was a suc­cess­ful step in at­tract­ing im­por­tant dis­trib­u­tors such as Car­refour (

), Pres­i­dent Group ( ) and Dream Mall ( ). Many food com­pa­nies will be striv­ing to take part in the food show in an at­tempt to at­tract big dis­trib­u­tors.

The 2015 Kaoh­si­ung Food Show will run for four days. In or­der to help food com­pa­nies with over­seas mar­ket­ing, the TAITRA will hold 2015 Food Sourc­ing in Tai­wan on Nov. 5, invit­ing com­pa­nies from Tai­wan’s tar­get ex­port mar­ket in­clud­ing main­land China, Ja­pan, Hong Kong and Malaysia to join in and ex­plore Tai­wanese food.

The TAITRA will also hold a cam­paign called Kaoh­si­ung HORECA to of­fer high-qual­ity cook­ing equip­ment for ho­tels and lo­cal food com­pa­nies, cre­at­ing busi­ness op­por­tu­ni­ties for the emerg­ing ser­vice in­dus­try.
