MOEA to host Kaohsiung food show to help overseas markets
As food businesses in Taiwan try to meet the demands of foreign tourists, the Bureau of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Economic Affairs ( ) is planning the 2015 Kaohsiung Food Show ( ) to let food companies present their products.
The food show will be held on Nov. 5 this year by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council ( TAITRA, ) to display fresh and high-quality Taiwanese food.
The TAITRA said last year that the 2014 Kaohsiung Food Show, which is the most suitable purchasing place for local food companies, attracted thousands of people from over 30 countries and created business opportunities worth roughly NT$1 billion. The items on display included agricultural produce, dairy products, aquatic products and organic food.
The TAITRA added that the food show last year was a successful step in attracting important distributors such as Carrefour (
), President Group ( ) and Dream Mall ( ). Many food companies will be striving to take part in the food show in an attempt to attract big distributors.
The 2015 Kaohsiung Food Show will run for four days. In order to help food companies with overseas marketing, the TAITRA will hold 2015 Food Sourcing in Taiwan on Nov. 5, inviting companies from Taiwan’s target export market including mainland China, Japan, Hong Kong and Malaysia to join in and explore Taiwanese food.
The TAITRA will also hold a campaign called Kaohsiung HORECA to offer high-quality cooking equipment for hotels and local food companies, creating business opportunities for the emerging service industry.
