Locals donate computers to university in Philippines
Ting Chin-huang and Chu Jihlin, two Taiwanese businessmen in the Philippines, have donated 30 computers to the Catholic Ming Yuen University in Bacolod to help lessen the digital divide between students from rural and urban areas.
The computers were accepted by Su Ta-yi, principal of the university, on behalf of his institution.
Bacolod is 500 km south of Manila and residents there, most of whom live in poverty, have no other way to access computers except through the university.
Ting donated 20 computers to the school a few years ago when it was raising funds to build a new school building. He also donated a generator.
