Tai­wan to send farm­ing prod­uct del­e­gates to US

The gov­ern­ment will or­ga­nize a del­e­ga­tion to the United States next month to pur­chase agri­cul­tural prod­ucts and dis­cuss agri­cul­tural is­sues with U.S. of­fi­cials and rep­re­sen­ta­tives of agri­cul­tural ex­porters, a for­eign af­fairs of­fi­cial said Thurs­day.

The del­e­ga­tion will sign a let­ter of in­tent on pro­cure­ment of agri­cul­tural prod­ucts with rep­re­sen­ta­tives of U.S. agri­cul­tural ex­porters dur­ing the Sept. 13-24 visit, said Chris­tine Hsueh, di­rec­tor-gen­eral of the Min­istry of For­eign Af­fairs’ Depart­ment of North Amer­i­can Af­fairs, at a news brief­ing.

The del­e­ga­tion will first visit Washington and sign the let­ter of in­tent at Capi­tol Hill, be­fore sep­a­rat­ing into two groups to visit dif­fer­ent states in cen­tral and western parts of the U.S. that are ma­jor agri­cul­tural pro­duc­ers, she said.

One of the groups will fo­cus on the pro­cure­ment of corn and soy­beans and will visit Iowa, Min­nesota and Ken­tucky, she said.
