Grace THW’s chair W. Wong denies purchasing TV company
Winston Wong ( ), chairman of the Grace T.H.W. Group (
), denied buying local cable news network ETTV ( ) yesterday, according to the company.
Wong’s response came after a report published by the United Evening News yesterday that said major shareholders of ETTV decided to sell their shares of stock and contacted at least five potential buyers including Wong and Hon Hai Industry ( ) Chairman Terry Gou ( ).
Wong and Lee Bau-jhu (
), who had four other children with late Formosa Plastics Group (FPG,
) founder Y.C. Wang, are secretly fighting for power in Taiwan’s television industry, according to sources printed in the United Evening News (UEN). Wong is the son of Y.C. Wang and another woman.
In order to prevent Winston Wong from gaining an inroad in the television industry, Lee and FPG chairman William Wong (
) bought controlling shares of Gala Television Corporation (
) in 2014, according to sources in UEN.
