Gu­atemala hon­ors en­voy for pro­mot­ing bi­lat­eral ties

The Gu­atemalan gov­ern­ment pre­sented a medal to Tai­wan’s am­bas­sador to Gu­atemala Adolfo Sun on Fri­day, in recog­ni­tion of his ef­forts to pro­mote bi­lat­eral co­op­er­a­tive projects dur­ing his ten­ure over the past seven years.

Gu­atemalan De­fense Min­is­ter Manuel Lopez con­ferred Sun with a medal that is the high­est mil­i­tary dec­o­ra­tion in the Cen­tral Amer­i­can coun­try dur­ing a cer­e­mony Fri­day (Gu­atemala time).

Lopez praised Sun for his ef­forts in push­ing for var­i­ous pro­grams be­tween the two diplo­matic al­lies in such ar­eas as mil­i­tary ed­u­ca­tion, trans­porta­tion, public health, agri­cul­ture, jus­tice and en­vi­ron­men­tal pro­tec­tion.

Tai­wan has also do­nated mil­i­tary he­li­copters and equip­ment to Gu­atemala, in­clud­ing two UH-1H util­ity he­li­copters and a va­ri­ety of com­po­nents used to over­haul the coun­try’s two ex­ist­ing chop­pers in 2012.
