Guatemala honors envoy for promoting bilateral ties
The Guatemalan government presented a medal to Taiwan’s ambassador to Guatemala Adolfo Sun on Friday, in recognition of his efforts to promote bilateral cooperative projects during his tenure over the past seven years.
Guatemalan Defense Minister Manuel Lopez conferred Sun with a medal that is the highest military decoration in the Central American country during a ceremony Friday (Guatemala time).
Lopez praised Sun for his efforts in pushing for various programs between the two diplomatic allies in such areas as military education, transportation, public health, agriculture, justice and environmental protection.
Taiwan has also donated military helicopters and equipment to Guatemala, including two UH-1H utility helicopters and a variety of components used to overhaul the country’s two existing choppers in 2012.
